*** I'm not a specialist in pulse diagnostics, so most often I replaced it with electrodiagnostics of the channel system. The following materials are collected from classical sources, as well as from the books of Dr. Gavaa Luvsan, which were published in the 1980s in the Soviet Union by the Nauka Publishers. Pulse diagnosis is a world heritage of classical Chinese medicine, so it is very interesting. I have studied it for a long time and use it in assessing the patient's general health.

Types of pulses
1. Superficial pulse - is felt under doctor's fingers without pressure, has the nature of Yang; corrsponds to the syndromes of cold, vacuity of Yang.
2. Deep pulse - is felt under intensely pressing fingers, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of energy.
3. Slow pulse - less than 4-5 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing (inhalation pulse - exhalation), has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of cold.
4. Rapid pulse - more than 6 heartbeats per normal cycle of breathing, has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
5. Hollow pulse - is felt under very soft palpation, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of cold and vacuity of blood.

6. Tense pulse - dense, hard, the pulse of the Yang nature; corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
7. Long pulse - the beating of pulse has a turbulent character, it beats out of the limits of normal pulse localization; corresponds to the syndrome of excess of energy.
8. Short pulse - short, small beats, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of energy.
9. Large pulse - beating of pulse like waves with decreasing of the amplitude of wave's crest (like "damped sinusoid curve"); corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
10. Latent pulse - is hidden inside; can be easily found when the patient starts breathing deeply, has the nature of both Yang and Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of heat, cold, excess of energy, vacuity of energy.
11. Thin pulse - "like a thread", small and soft, is easily taken, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of energy.
12. Superficial and small (weak) pulse - is felt at slightest touch, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of Yin.
13. Stringlike pulse - stretched "as a guitar string", has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of cold.
14. Deep and small (weak) pulse - is felt deeply, has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of Yang energy.
15. Infrequent pulse - 3 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of cold.
16. Free pulse - the heartbeat is felt clearly; smooth, 6 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing; has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
17. Astringent pulse - 3 hertbeats per one cycle of breathing, the pulse beats are short, irregular, hampered; has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of protective energy.
18. Scattered pulse - chaotic, scattered pulse beats; it's hard to count the heartbeats; has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of vacuity of the energy of liver and kidneys.
19. Bulb-shaped pulse - is similar "to a crushed bulb, with a dent in the centre", has the nature of Yin in Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of blood.
20. Strong pulse - dense, hard, "the arrival of pulse beats is slow, the leaving is fast", with clear intervals between heartbeats; has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
21. Moving pulse - pulse beats are slow, with breaks; has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndromes of heat (or cold) of stomach (or small intestine).
22. Hasty pulse - superficial, pulse waves are chaotic; has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of heat of stomach (or large intestine).
23. Cutting pulse - rapid and sharp, one heartbeat per one cycle of breathing; has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of stagnation of blood.
24. Imperceptible pulse - soft, slow, with occasional pauses; has the nature ofYin; corresponds to the syndromes of vacuity of liver, kidneys, stagnation of blood.
25. Full pulse - long, dense and hard; has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of heat, excess of the energy of spleen and stomach.
26. Weak pulse - soft, thin; has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndromes of vacuity of blood and protective energy.
27. Freezing pulse - 1-2 disappearing pulse beats per one cycle of breathing; has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of vacuity of energy of blood and nutritious energy.
28. Leather pulse - reminds of a beating on a drum (covered with stretched leather), has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of cold.
29. Accelerated pulse - excited, sometimes interrupted, more than 5 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing; has the nature of Yang in Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of heat, excess of energy.
30. Rolling pulse - rolls under doctor's fingers like a ball, has the nature of Yang in Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of the Triple warmer - the upper, middle and lower parts.
31. Mad pulse - 8 - 9 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing, the pulse is dense, has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndromes of excess of Yang energy and vacuity of Yin.

Pulses with opposing characteristics of pulse beats
empty - full  vacuity of the energy of blood, excess of the energy of spleen, stomach
long - short  excess of energy, excess of the energy of urinary bladder
slow - accelerated  heat and cold
strong - weak  cold, vacuity of the energy of blood and nutritious energy
imperceptible - large  excess of the energy of heart
thin - tense  vacuity of the energy of blood, cold, vacuity of the energy of liver
freezing - mad  vacuity of Yang energy, vacuity of Yin, nutritious energy, vacuity of the energy of blood
free - latent  heat, cold, excess and vacuity of energy of blood
hasty - astringent heat, stagnation of blood, protective energy
rapid - infrequent  heat and cold, vacuity of Yin and Yang in kidneys
5 "paradoxical" types of pulse
"Swimming fish" (like flickering fish)   heat and cold
"Boiling in a saucepan" (like boiling water)  heat
"Roof shadow" (like leaking drops)  cold
"Swimming shrimp" (like frog jump)  excess of energy, vacuity of energy
"Bird cage" (like a sparrow pecking crumbs)  heat, cold

These types of pulse are usual for seriously ill and are the main diagnostic indications in case of critical condition of a patient.
