*** I'm not a specialist in pulse diagnostics, so most often I replaced it with electrodiagnostics of the channel system. The following materials are collected from classical sources, as well as from the books of Dr. Gavaa Luvsan, which were published in the 1980s in the Soviet Union by the Nauka Publishers. Pulse diagnosis is a world heritage of classical Chinese medicine, so it is very interesting. I have studied it for a long time and use it in assessing the patient's general health.
Types of pulses
1. Superficial pulse - is felt under doctor's fingers without pressure, has the nature of Yang; corrsponds to the syndromes of cold, vacuity of Yang.
2. Deep pulse - is felt under intensely pressing fingers, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of vacuity of energy.
3. Slow pulse - less than 4-5 heartbeats per one cycle of breathing (inhalation pulse - exhalation), has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndrome of cold.
4. Rapid pulse - more than 6 heartbeats per normal cycle of breathing, has the nature of Yang; corresponds to the syndrome of heat.
5. Hollow pulse - is felt under very soft palpation, has the nature of Yin; corresponds to the syndromes of cold and vacuity of blood.

Details of using:
The channels the pulse of which is taken in the same points but on different hands have a close connection which is a base of the "husband-wife" treatment rule. According to the traditional Chinese medicine, blood from the "point" of heart flows in different directions in male and female bodies: to the left in men and to the right in women; thus the correspondence of the channels in the female cun point under the doctor's forefingers on the right and left hands is opposite to the correspondence of male's body (see the table below).
If the patient is male, then the pulse on the left hand is to be examined first; if female - on the right hand, i.e. the pulse of the channel of heart is examined first.
The level of the pulse allows to localize the pathological process: when the pulse is superficial, "the illness is on the surface", in case of deep pulse "the illness has got inside"; if the pulse is slow and weak - Yin is exhausted, if the pulse is rather rapid - the "flourishing of Yang" is in progress.
The "Huang Di Nei Jing" (黄帝内经 - Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) lists six main types of pulse:
- Large
- Small
- Smooth
- Rough
- Fast
- Long
Algorithm of diagnostics with measurement of electrodermal resistance in distal points of 12 – main channels:
*** We have used a number of different models of devices and as a result of using these acupuncture points:
- yin-side of the wrist Lu9, Pc7, Ht7
- yang-side of the wrist Li5, Te4, Si5
- Yin-side around the the ankle joint Liv2, Sp3, K5
- yang-side around the the ankle joint St42, Bl65, Gb40
